The Grantmaking Process

This full day professional development workshop for Maryland's grantmakers is taught by our region's experienced practitioners. It will address:  

  • The role of your grantmaking within the local and national philanthropic environment
  • Developing and refining grant guidelines and grantmaking strategies
  • Proposal review and due diligence
  • Evaluating nonprofit financial health
  • Best practices for maximize grant impact through reports and relationships
  • Legal and ethical guidelines for grantmaking excellence
This workshop is for trustees, staff, and executive directors of foundations, giving circles and corporate giving programs who want to expand their grantmaking skills, deepen their understanding of philanthropy and learn from their colleagues.

Beginning grantmakers will appreciate the workshop's efficient overview of all aspects of grantmaking.  Intermediate grantmakers will appreciate the time to reflect on and refine their grantmaking fundamentals.

All participants will receive a binder packed with helpful reference materials. This workshop is offered by ABAG every two years.

Registration - $85 member rate $125 non-member grantmakers.
