"Philanthropy Group Helps Women Support Each Other"
Andrea Ingram had a problem. As director of a nonprofit service agency, she needed to help a family that was about to be evicted. Ingram contacted a member of the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County, who sent an e-mail to 600 people on the group's mailing list, explaining the situation and asking for donations. A few of Baltimore's unsung community heroes recently got a big surprise - a $5,000 kind of surprise. Cash awards were presented by members of The B'MORE Fund to four of Baltimore's finest. Members of the fund secretly nominated and selected the awardees, whose dedication to improving life in Baltimore knocked their socks off.
