Winners of $1,000 Comcast Student Achievement Awards -- one from each of the county's 12 high schools -- were announced at a reception last week by County Executive Janet S. Owens and Superintendent Carol S. Parham.
The scholarship recognizes students deemed to have shown the most improvement during their high school years and minority students who exhibit academic excellence.
Recipients are Joy Medley of Annapolis High, Aaron Delano Surgeon of Arundel High, Margaret Lindsay Nickerson of Broadneck, Mary C. Bell of Chesapeake, Gregory W. Sharps Jr. of Glen Burnie, Raven N. Martin of Meade, Kyle Eide of North County High, Charles Kuska of Northeast High, Richard A. Wiles Jr. of Old Mill, Mark Mahon of Severna Park, Heather Dawn Angle of South River and Nicole Monique Smith of Southern High.
