Gulf Coast Area Community Foundations

You may wish to send a donation to area community foundations that have set up or intend to set up Hurricane Katrina Relief Funds. 

* The Baton Rouge Area Foundation has established two hurricane disaster relief funds: "The Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund," and "The Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Recovery Fund"

The Greater New Orleans Community Foundation, in conjunction with the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, has established a "Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund" 

* The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has established two funds: The "Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund," and the "Hurricane Katrina Recovery Fund – Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi"

* The Foundation for the Mid-South in Jackson, MS, has established the Hurricane Katrina Recovery & Restoration Fund.

* The Community Foundation of Shreveport-Bossier
The foundation has set up the Katrina Relief Fund to assist charitable agencies who are serving the short and long term needs of those in the Shreveport Area.

* The Community Foundation of Acadiana
The foundation has established The Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund to benifit victims of Katrina in southeast Louisiana. The effort is coordinated via The Greater New Orleans Foundation and other local, regional and state entities.

* The Central Alabama Community Foundation (Montgomery)
The foundation has set up a fund to pass through funds to community foundations in the affected areas.

* The Community Foundation of South Alabama (Mobile) has established a hurricane relief fund.
