More than 1,500 women and men gathered for an evening of celebration created by women, for women, and about women.
This celebration:
* United hundreds of nonprofits in one collaborative event for one common cause- the celebration of women & philanthropy.
* Created a college scholarship effort for young women who are exceptional students and active community volunteers
* Enabled at-risk girls from various after-school programs to participate in this dynamic celebration and concert
* Served as a pilot program for other states to highlight, honor, and celebrate the women in their communities who make a difference every day.
Maryland’s Women and Philanthropy Collaborative, led by co-Chairs Melanie Sabelhaus and PJ Mitchell, represents local businesses, government, education, nonprofits and foundations in Maryland.

United Way of Central Maryland, one of the sponsoring organizations, collected the funds, and will pay the costs of the event, and distribute the net proceeds to the CollegeBound Foundation, a local 501(c)(3) organization, which is using the funds to award the SHERO scholarships to eligible young women.
